hey everyone today I've got a little tip
0:11
for you about Mac OS 10 line now if you
0:15
have used line for any amount of time
0:17
you'll know that when you go to the
0:18
Apple logo menu and click shut down or
0:20
something like that it gives you this
0:22
little dialog box and it says reopen
0:24
Windows when logging back in there's a
0:26
little check boox now personally I don't
0:28
like that check box at all um I'm not a
0:32
huge fan of the new resume feature in
0:34
line so I end up always unchecking it
0:37
before I click shut down I find this a
0:40
little bit annoying but there's a way
0:41
that you can make this check boox
0:42
completely useless um it'll still show
0:44
up so when you go to shut down it'll
0:47
still show up but no matter what you do
0:49
if you leave it checked or unchecked
0:50
it's not going to do anything so to make
0:52
this work you're going to have to go
0:53
into terminal so the easiest way to find
0:56
terminal is just to click on Spotlight
0:57
up in the top and type in
1:01
terminal and you can click on a terminal
1:03
and from here you're going to see your
1:05
little window and you're going to have
1:07
to paste a line of code into here now
1:10
rather than saying the code or
1:11
displaying it on the screen uh it's
1:12
pretty much useless to do because it's a
1:14
very long uh string of text what I'm
1:18
going to do is I'm just going to have it
1:19
listed right below the video so here it
1:21
is right here you can see it's a very
1:22
long string and uh I'm just going to
1:25
copy this string and I'm going to paste
1:28
it right here and I'm going to hit hit
1:31
enter and it's going to ask you for your
1:33
password and I'm just going to f in my
1:35
little password you're not going to see
1:36
any characters or anything and now it's
1:38
going to look like nothing happened but
1:40
what it actually did is it downloaded a
1:43
little script and it ran the script
1:45
basically disabling that resume checkbox
1:49
so I'm going to close everything up here
1:50
and I'm going to set up a little test
1:52
scenario I'm going to open up Safari I'm
1:54
going to open up a whole bunch of new
1:55
tabs here and these are all going to be
1:58
open and I'll open up system preferences
2:00
maybe and a finder
2:02
window and let's try something like
2:06
image capture and QuickTime
2:09
Player and maybe texted it again we're
2:12
going to have all this stuff open and
2:14
now what I'm going to do is I'm going to
2:16
shut down the mac and I'm going to leave
2:19
the reopen Windows when logging in
2:21
checkbox
2:23
enabled and we're going to restart it
2:25
and see what happens
2:40
so you can see here now that the only
2:41
thing that seemed to resume on Startup
2:44
was the finder window so so it's a
2:47
little bit interesting that that did
2:48
actually resume but you can see none of
2:50
the other stuff I had opened like Safari
2:52
and image capture quick time player none
2:53
of that stuff is open now so you can see
2:55
that the script did work now the nice
2:58
thing about this script is that you can
2:59
dis dis aable it as well so if I go back
3:01
in the terminal and I take this other
3:04
line of code here which I'll also have
3:07
right below the video and I copy this
3:10
and I paste it right into terminal what
3:12
it's going to do is it's going to
3:14
reverse the script that I just put in
3:17
it's going to ask me for my password
3:19
once again and it looks like nothing
3:21
happened but you'll see that everything
3:22
will resume once again after you shut
3:25
down and restart so there you go that's
3:27
an easy way to disable the resume check
3:30
box on the shutdown screen on your Mac
3:32
and as always if you have anything that
3:33
you'd like to see me do a how-to on make
3:35
sure to send me an email I hope you
3:37
found this video useful and thank you
