Hey what's up guys, Stephen Coults of Mac here and welcome to my home office
0:06
Just as with my main office which I showed you guys in the iSetups video, my home office
0:09
is still a bit of a work in progress. The reason we're here is because I wanted to show you guys a product that I've been
0:14
using for the past few weeks, which has quickly turned into an essential bit of kit
0:19
This is the Hengedocs Vertical Dock. It's a docking station for Macbook Pros which you can simply plug and play if you're constantly
0:25
on the move and want to hook up to a monitor for that desktop setup
0:29
The one I have here is designed for the Macbook Pro with Retina display, but if you have a
0:33
standard Macbook, a Macbook Air or even the new Macbook Pro with Touch Bar, Hengedocs
0:37
have got you covered. No matter which one you go for, they've all got the sleek and Apple-esque design that
0:42
matches the Macbook perfectly. It's got a super minimal look, with just the logo on the front and side
0:47
For the initial setup, it's definitely worth checking the instructions provided. Within the dock, there's an audio jack, USB and two DisplayPort connections to go into
0:55
the Macbook, with female connections running through cables out of the bottom
1:00
The MagSafe charger isn't provided though, meaning you need to use one that you've already got
1:04
Installing it is a pretty simple process. Flip it upside down and use the hidden hex key to loosen the screw on the back
1:10
Then slide your MagSafe cable through with one of the included adapters and slide your
1:14
Macbook in. Once connected, tighten back up the hex screw to keep it in place and slide the cables into
1:20
the management system and you're good to go. Thanks to the cable management system, not only does it keep the cables neat, it makes
1:26
it easy to keep them out of sight. With the Macbook just slotting straight into the dock itself, this makes it a really quick
1:32
system to transform from a laptop to a desktop system when moving from out and about to a
1:36
home setup. As well as saving me valuable time and effort, the vertical dock also ensures that I save
1:42
some desk space. I've no longer got to put my Macbook laying flat on the desk with cables sprouting off
1:47
across the desk. Instead, it's all standing up neatly. Thanks to the dock's 3lb weight, it's reassuringly stable and feels extremely well built
1:54
For $119, the vertical dock feels like a bargain for such a well built and clever piece of tech
2:00
Being able to simply slide my Macbook in and get to work is perfect for me as it takes
2:05
out any frustration of hooking up hundreds of cables. Also as a quick side note, the Gravitas Mobile dock is a perfect addition, keeping the clean
2:12
Apple aesthetic for when I need to dock my iPhone or even my iPad Pro
2:16
Built out of the same high quality aluminium with the same amazing build quality, this
2:20
perfectly complements my clean home setup. As with the vertical dock, the Gravitas has a hefty weight to it, coming in at 2.5lb
2:28
Which means I can one handily dock and remove my iPhone, which is an oversight for a lot
2:32
of docks, simply pulling away with the phone when I try and undock
2:35
It also comes with an extra insert for my iPad in case I want to dock that and again
2:39
thanks to the weight, it doesn't start leaning over even though the dock is only a little
2:43
bit larger than a Pepsi can. Well that's it for this video, if you'd like more info on either of these docks, I'll make
