For the first time since the iMac G3 in the late 1990s, Apple’s all-in-one desktop computer might come in a range of color options, Apple leaker Jon Prosser says.

In a video published Wednesday, Prosser says 2021’s redesigned Apple Silicon iMac will come in black, white, green, blue and rose gold colors. Those are the same color options the latest iPad Air comes in.

Prosser shared some renders of the new iMac design. Visually, it looks a whole lot like Apple’s Pro Display XDR, with a hint of iPad Pro. However, the big difference is that this year’s iMac will come in a range of colors. This is the first time in years Apple has offered a Mac in various colors. (And, no, the iMac Pro, which switched up the regular aluminum for space gray, doesn’t really count.)

Prosser acknowledges that these are just prototypes, meaning that Apple could ultimately change the lineup of colors. He also points out that the port selection featured in the mockups is based on the ones from the 2020 iMac, rather than any evidence he has seen. Nonetheless, there’s certainly a lot to be excited about when it comes to the first M-series iMac release.

There’s no word on when this iMac redesign will ship. Apple is rumored to be hosting an Apple event in March, where it will show off its AirTags and a new iPad Pro. But it seems likely that we’ll be waiting a fair bit longer for both of these new Macs to be announced. A previous report has suggested Apple will stick to the same 21.5-inch and 27-inch screen sizes.
