Firemint’s ‘Real Racing 2’ Now Offers Dual-Screen Gaming at 1080p

An update to Firemint’s Real Racing 2 HD game today sees the company introduce dual-screen gaming to the iPad 2 using the new Digital AV Adapter accessory. When hooked up to a HDTV, users can enjoy their race in 1080p on their TV, while their iPad displays an alternative image from the game – such as a map of the circuit – simultaneously.

The iPad continues to act as a controller, so you can control the car on your TV using the iPad’s gyroscope controls, as demonstrated in the video below.

You can also switch back and forth between dual-screen gaming within a race, so there’s no need to restart the game or start a new race when you want to add or remove your HDTV. You can start a game on your TV, then unplug your device and continue from where you left off on your iPad.

Check out Firemint’s new video that shows off dual-screen gaming below; I think you’ll agree it looks pretty impressive.

We hope other game developers take note and implement dual-screen gaming into their own apps and games. There are so many games in the App Store that would work magnificently with this feature.

If you’ve had chance to try out dual-screen gaming with the latest version of Real Racing 2, let us know what it’s like in the comments.
