Apple Introduces Apple Support Communities

I tried to look up something this Sunday morning on Apple’s Discussion Forums and they were down. Now fast forward to this evening after all the obligatory Sunday events and the sites back up along with a big surprise.  Apple has launched Apple Support Communities. The site is back up in a big way.

Apple Support Communities are a revised version of Apple’s popular discussion forums. The site now makes it easier for Mac, Mac OS X, iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and iOS users to find answers to problems or questions they might have.

The website redesign adds a lot of new features to the forums. They are now easier to browse, you can share images by uploading them and they offer social features via the ability to “like” a post. The image feature alone will be the best out of the new features that have been introduced. After all a picture is worth a 1,000 words and in technical support I’d say more like a million.

I was a bit apprehensive about the changes until I discovered that the content I’ve come to know in the forums is intact. Past topics that I took part in as well as my own posts are all still there. I let out a big sigh of relief upon seeing that.

Check out the new Apple Support Communities for a pleasant surprise or take a look at all the new features the site has to offer now.

And it does look good…as long as you don’t try to use it with an iphone (and probably with any other iOS device)…you can’t scroll the list of forums on the left (where you select the product) on the iphone…so…if you are trying, for instance, to look at some forum about Notebooks, you are SOL.

This is pretty great, glad to see them kick it up a notch.

Actually, there is a Notebook community, and particular notebooks within it. I’m in the MacBook Air community, for example.

Same thing happened to me. I sent a message and haven’t heard anything about and my account still doesn’t work.

I am also getting the error message “We’re sorry. Your account could not be created due to system issues.” and have contacted Apple about this, but have not received a reply from them.

For the first time in many years of being an Apple user and advocate…I’m really PO’d. They’re not answering the emails on this so we no longer have any support. Come on, Apple. Between this and NEVER having any iPads in your local store, I’m starting to get an attitude.

Did you even read what he said?

I’ve been getting the same message since the day the revamped discussions launched. I’ve filled in the form five or six times now and still no joy.

I have been trying to set up an account on the support community without success. My Apple ID and PW come up as verified and I use them to access ITunes & the App store. I have sent 4 messages on the “Contact us” page over 3 days.
I think the only way to get help signing up on the ASC is to be on the ASC!!
