The largest version of the iPhone 15 reportedly will come with the smallest screen bezels. Like, record-breaking thin.
An Apple tipster says the black area around the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s display will measure a mere 1.55 millimeters.
iPhone 15 Pro Max: More screen in the same area
According to earlier leaks, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will squeeze slightly larger displays into chassis of the same size. Apparently, this will be accomplished with slimmer screen bezels.
The tipster who goes by Ice Universe claimed Friday via Twitter that, “iPhone 15 Pro Max will break the record of 1.81mm bezel black edge held by Xiaomi 13, and we measure that its cover plate black bezel width is only 1.55 mm.”
That’s down from the 2.17 mm bezels of the iPhone 14 Pro. Ice Universe also points out that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23 have bezels of approximately 1.95 mm.
Last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max packs a 6.7-inch display. The much slimmer bezels on its replacement could mean the upcoming model will ship with a 6.8-inch screen. The smaller Pro model might measure 6.2 inches, not 6.1 inches.
Other expected changes
Leaked CAD drawings of the iPhone 15 series show the edges of the outer casing will be more curved. Otherwise, the casing looks almost unchanged.
All four handsets in Apple’s 2023 lineup are widely expected to come with a USB-C port in place of the Lightning port, thanks to an EU mandate.
Expect all these leaks to be confirmed or disproved when Apple unveils the new iPhone 15 series this fall.
