With a new software update to the Hubitat Elevation hub, users can bridge hundreds of Z-Wave and Zigbee devices not normally compatible with HomeKit into their Apple Home app, Hubitat said Wednesday.

The Hubitat Elevation software version 2.3.4 update brings HomeKit integration. It lets the hub serve as a bridge for “countless lights, switches, sensors and other devices that are not natively HomeKit compatible,” the company said.

Hubitat Elevation hub software update brings HomeKit integration

The update lets Hubitat Elevation hub (model C-7) users bridge Z-Wave and Zigbee devices into Apple HomeKit. They can also control and monitor previously incompatible devices with the Apple Home app. And they can expand Homekit automation with Elevation hub’s built-in apps, the company said.

“Integrating the Hubitat Elevation hub with Apple Homekit opens up a whole new world of possibilities for Homekit users,” said Pete Borchers, Hubitat’s director of marketing. “Now the hundreds of Zigbee and Z-Wave devices that are compatible with the Hubitat Elevation hub can be brought into the Apple Home app and interact with user’s Homekit connected devices.”

No cloud access required

The hub’s HomeKit integration is local, taking place over a homeowner’s network without any need for cloud access. So devices and automations should work even during internet outages.

“In addition to the Apple HomeKit integration, the 2.3.4 update adds several new compatible devices to the Hubitat Elevation hub, including new switches and dimmers from GE/Jasco and Enbrighten, a Ring glass break sensor and more,” Hubitat said.

The Hubitat Elevation 2.3.4 update is available now for all Hubitat Elevation hub owners. You can pick up the Hubitat Elevation C-7 hub on Amazon for $109.95 — that’s 27% off the regular price of $149.95.
