The two iPhone 14 Pro models have been on the market for several weeks now but demand still outstrips supply. As a result, anyone shopping for the handsets should expect to wait until November to get one, especially the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The iPhone 14 Plus is set to launch October 7 and already has a short wait time beyond that date. Those shopping for the basic iPhone 14 face no wait.

Expect to wait for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max

Apple unveiled four models in the iPhone 14 series in early September. The 6.1-inch “standard” iPhone 14 model is a modest update from the 2021 version, but the two Pro models have a better camera and the Dynamic Island in place of the screen notch. There’s also a new iPhone 14 Plus with a mix of Pro and standard features.

The two Pro models have been backordered since the day preorders began in early September, and the Apple has not caught up with demand.

A check of Apple’s U.S. online store shows that a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro in any color or storage capacity ordered October 3 won’t arrive before October 26, which means the delivery could be as late as November 2.

The wait is even longer for the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. No matter the color or storage capacity, a handset ordered now from the Apple store won’t arrive before November 2, and it could be as late as Nov. 9.

Still, there’s good news. In the two weeks since the Pro models went on sale, wait times have gone down about a week. So Apple is catching up a little.

Despite the $1,099 starting price, demand for the Pro Max is apparently heavy – Apple is reportedly manufacturing far more units than it did for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

iPhone 14 Plus now backordered

Apple unveiled the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus at the same September 7 event as its series mates, and pre-orders also began at the same time. But this version isn’t set to reach customers until October 7 because Apple has had problems getting enough display panels for it.

And anyone shopping for this handset now faces an additional wait. An order placed on October 3 won’t arrive until between Oct. 11 and Oct. 13. That’s true for every storage capacity and color.

It’s not yet clear how much demand there is for the iPhone 14 Plus. It’s a new model: the first non-Pro handset from Apple with a 6.7-inch display. And it’s the first iOS handset with a screen that large under $1,000. It’s actually $899.

Reports indicate there’s not strong demand for the the $799 “standard” 6.1-inch iPhone 14. Apple has plenty of supply – there are no wait times and Apple is cutting production.
