A critical detail has leaked about about Apple’s upcoming wearable designed for serious athletes. The new top-tier Apple Watch will have a 47mm screen, according to a new report coming out of Asia.

This will make it the largest version yet of Apple’s wrist computer.

Apple Watch Pro will be big

Many people wear an Apple Watch for health and fitness, and Apple is allegedly going all in with a model designed for hardcore athletes. Leaks indicate Apple will call it the Explorer Edition or the Pro.

The first report that the wearable will have an extra-large screen surfaced in July, but the exact dimensions remained a mystery. Then on Saturday came word that the display will be 47mm, according to MacOtokara. Currently, the largest Apple Watch has a 45mm display.

A previous report indicated the resolution will be approximately 410 pixels by 502 pixels. For reference, the current 45mm model has a 396-by-484-pixel resolution. Anyone carefully tracking their workout progress can appreciate more screen real estate.

Other top-drawer features of the new wearable

MacOtokara also reported, “The all-new Apple Watch design will have a flat display in a metal casing like the iPhone 13 Pro.” The screens of current models all come with rounded edges.

Apple’s device supposedly will be made of titanium to make it more rugged. And the larger screen will make room for a bigger battery capable of enduring longer workouts. It will surely have Apple’s latest S8 processor for watches, along with the new body temperature sensor that’s also allegedly coming to Apple Watch Series 8.

A price hasn’t leaked out yet, but titanium Series 7 versions start at $799. This one could cost even more.

Apple Watch Explorer Edition (or Pro or whatever Cupertino decides to call it) almost certainly will debut at Apple’s September 7 product-launch event.
