Apple’s M2 MacBook Air might be the newest kid on the block, but you can’t go wrong with the M1 Air as well. And with Best Buy taking a whopping $200 off on the 2020 MacBook Air, now is the perfect time to buy one.

This is the lowest price the M1 MacBook Air has dropped down to.

M1 MacBook Air is the ideal Mac for college students

Apple announced the svelte new M2 MacBook Air at WWDC22 in June this year. With a starting price tag of $1,199, the new Air is $200 more expensive than its predecessor. This could explain why Apple did not discontinue the M1 Air. Instead, it continues to retail for $999 for users on a tight budget.

The M1 chip ticking inside the 2020 MacBook Air is powerful enough to handle your daily workloads. In Cult of Mac’s M1 MacBook Air review, we opened over 650 Safari tabs on the machine without any performance hiccups.

Despite the slim form factor, Apple claims the M1 MacBook Air provides 18 hours of battery life. So, you can use the Air to take notes in school without worrying about running out of juice.

Get the M1 MacBook Air with 512GB storage with a $200 discount

Best Buy has discounted the M1 MacBook Air with 256GB storage to $899.99 — down $100 from its MSRP. The best deal is on the 512GB configuration, though. You just need to pay an additional $50 to upgrade to it from the entry-level model, all thanks to a massive $200 discount. So, instead of $1,249.99, you pay only $1,049.99. Usually, Amazon has this model with a $99 discount, so you are saving an additional $101 here.

What makes Best Buy’s offer even better is that you get six-month Apple Music and Apple News+ subscriptions for free. The offer is applicable for both new and returning subscribers.

The M2 MacBook Air, with its faster chip and new design, is the better machine. But it is hard to ignore the M1 Air at its lowest-ever price.
