Chris Evans, star of Marvel Studios’ Captain America movie series, gave the internet a bit of a thrill when he finally said goodbye to his trusty iPhone 6s with a lovely little eulogy Thursday.

The iPhone 6s came out in 2015 and ceased new sales in 2018. Now it’s 2022, and it looks like Cap has, at long last, woken up to the iPhone 13.

Captain America‘s Chris Evans finally upgrades his iPhone 6s

One could be forgiven for thinking Evans was an Android guy because he sported one in 2019 murder mystery Knives Out. The plot called for it. But in the real world, Evans had been clinging to his iPhone 6s for a long, long time.

Hard to say if it was the Apple devices co-starring with him in Apple TV+ drama Defending Jacob that helped sway him to upgrade. It seems his old handset’s problems pushed him to the breaking point, as noted in his tweet below.

He cites charging issues, grainy photographs and sudden, steep drops in remaining battery capacity, calling it all a “wild ride.”

Evans posted a eulogy to his dearly departing iPhone 6s on Twitter and Instagram with a photo of the data transfer, above, to what appears to be an iPhone 13. He doesn’t say that, though. It could be an iPhone 12.

An internet sensation ensued, just like the last time you upgraded

The Instagram post gathered up more than a million likes in less than 12 hours. The Twitter post topped half a million likes, along with an epic discussion thread.

Among the responding tweets, folks assured Evans that he’d soon get over the loss of the home button.
