Mounts can make the most of a computer setup. They can mobilize so much of your gear — computers, displays, microphones — so you can use them when you need them and push them out of the way when you don’t, opening up desk space. And you can minutely adjust their positioning, too.
Today’s featured MacBook Pro and Mac Studio computer setup takes advantage of mounts for the computers, display, video camera and microphone.

Mac Studio and MacBook Pro setup is a nicely mounted videoconferencing center
Redditor jamesslock showed off the workstation in a post entitled, “Polished up the home setup.” James runs a MacBook Pro on a wall mount and a Mac Studio mounted under the desk (not pictured).
The computers run into a Brydge USB-C hub, driving a slick, 32-inch BenQ PD322OU IPS 4K display. The monitor features 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, good connectivity options (Thunderbolt, USB-C, DisplayPort, HDMI) and HDR10 support.
“I mostly use it for work, and need the color profiles and calibration,” James said.
And, whatever he does for work or otherwise, he apparently needs some serious audio-visual gear.
Videoconferencing or podcasting gear
The mounts come into play mainly for the setup’s AV gear. James uses a Shure MV7 USB Podcasting Microphone mounted on an Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP, over by the mounted MacBook Pro on the right in the photograph.
The mic’s dual USB and XLR output allows digital or analog recording for podcasting, recording, live streaming and more. An intuitive touch panel controls gain, volume, headphone mix and mic muting.
The ShurePlus Motif desktop application provides access to audio processing. Auto-Level Mode automatically adjusts gain and compression settings. Switchable EQ filters adjust audio tone, color and options to save custom user presets.
Not your average webcam
And then there’s the camera — and what a camera. The Sony Alpha 7 mirrorless camera mounted via Elgato Master Mount L above the display is more than a typical webcam.
It features a 33MP full-frame Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a BIONZ XR image processing engine. It can take up to 4K 60p 10-bit video with full pixel readout in all recording formats, with 7K oversampling.

Mechanical keyboards
And you can’t help but notice some other nice details in the setup. The desk itself is handsomely rough-hewn, though James doesn’t name it. And the mechanical keyboards are notable, too.
The one in action is a Mode SixtyFive. The stack stored to the left in the photo includes a Phase One 65 mechanical keyboard and a Rama U80-A mechanical keyboard.
