LG ships unique new 16:18 Ergo DualUp Monitor with 90W USB-C charging
LG unveiled the LG 28MQ780-B DualUp Monitor with Ergo, the latest addition to it Ergo monitor lineup, earlier this year and began shipping it last week. But now you can actually buy one. And you may be tempted to do just that.
Why? Because you could be the only kid on the block with such a screen. A vertical panel with a 16:18 aspect ratio that delivers 90W USB-C passthrough charging is simply not something you see every day.
If you’re thinking of adding a second external monitor to your setup, this could be an alternative or an addition. And if you’ve ever been tempted to stack your dual monitors rather than place them side-by-side, this monitor essentially does that for you.
With its highly unusual 16:18 aspect ratio, the LG Ergo DualUp sports a more vertical orientation than your typical display. That lends itself a variety of tasks, from coding to web browsing.
“Ergo” in the name refers to the included mount, which is interesting in its own right. Fixed to a desk with a c-clamp, the fixture can raise, lower, tilt and swivel the display.

Formidable specs
For all its eccentricity, the LG DualUp is no slouch in its specifications. The 27.6-inch IPS 2560 x 2880 pixel-resolution panel achieves 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color spectrum with HDR10 contrast. And while its 300 nits of brightness is unremarkable, it’s not bad.
Connectivity-wise, the panel has dual HDMI 2 ports and a DisplayPort output, as well as a built-in USB-A hub.
The main attraction for MacBook users, though, is the USB-C port. It can deliver 90W of power to a connected device. So your laptop can drive the monitor and get its juice from a single connection.
