Apple’s newest iPad Air has received some stellar reviews, though murmuring from some quarters claims it’s a bit on the flimsy side. But the owner of today’s featured setup seems over the moon about the new addition to her workstation, centered by an M1 MacBook Air and an LG display.
And she’s eager to get going with the new, much-ballyhooed Universal Control functionality using the new tablet, despite challenges.

New ‘pink’ iPad Air, M1 MacBook Air, LG display
Redditor FoxyFreckles1989 (“Foxy”), who works in user experience at a startup and also freelances as an artist, described her computer setup in a post titled, “My M1 iPad Air came in the mail today, and my setup is feeling pretty complete, for now!”
Foxy runs a MacBook Air on a Boyata laptop stand with a 27-inch LG HD display. The new iPad Air sits to the left. With the computers, Foxy uses a JellyComb wireless mouse and a Cimetech wireless keyboard. They’re two solid input devices to look at if you’re on a budget.
All of the gear shares a certain general color scheme.
“Very nice,” enthused a commenter. “Pink power all the way!”
There appeared to be some question about whether Apple’s gold is really more of a pink, at least in some cases.
“Thank you. I swear, that MBA is pink. When I bought it I was told it was gold, and I wasn’t too keen on the idea but didn’t want the other options either,” replied Foxy.
“I was so surprised and happy to see the actual color, but I’ve seen others claim it’s copper and rusty gold, etc.,” she continued. “Looks pink to me, especially when paired with my other various rose golds and pinks! The iPad Air is also pink, but much lighter. My Apple Watch is starlight and even fits in!”
Universal Control
Many people who own an Apple computer and an iPad are excited about Universal Control. It’s the long-awaited functionality — finally available with osMonterey 12.3 — that lets you use a single keyboard and mouse across a Mac and an iPad, moving from one to the other seamlessly. Foxy is no exception in her enthusiasm, though she has run into a roadblock.
“Have you played around with Universal Control?” inquired a Redditor. “Being able to move the mac cursor onto the iPad to quickly control media has been a game changer for me.”
“That was literally what I was most looking forward to, but I can’t seem to manage to update my Mac to 12.3! I am stuck on 12.2.1 and it’s telling me that it’s up to date!”
