Apple Fitness+ is getting a number of upgrades that will help users who have vowed to get fitter and healthier in 2022. Starting next week, new Collections and Time to Run features will roll out for the first time, with more to come later.
Collections is a curated series of workouts and meditations designed to help users reach a certain goal — like running their first 5K or improving their sleep. Apple describes Time to Run as a new “audio running experience.”
Apple Fitness+ is getting an upgrade for 2022
“At the beginning of a new year, we know many people are looking for new ways to go after their goals. With these new additions, Fitness+ makes it easy to get motivated and stay active anywhere,” said Apple Fitness VP Jay Blahnik.
“We can’t wait for people to get motivated to reach their goals with Collections, and inspired by Time to Run’s exploration of iconic cities with rich running history,” both of which will hit Apple Fitness+ on January 10.
Collections are a series of workouts and meditations, drawn from more than 2000 in the Apple Fitness+ catalog, that are bundled together to help users reach a certain goal. These six will be available at launch:
- 30-Day Core Challenge
- Improve Your Posture with Pilates
- Perfect Your Yoga Balance Poses
- Run Your First 5K
- Strengthen Your Back, Stretch Your Hips
- Wind Down for a Better Bedtime
Time to Run
Time to Run is much like Apple Fitness+’s existing Time to Walk feature. It’s an audio experience that hopes to help users become “more consistent and better runners,” with each episode focused on a popular running route.
The first three routes are focused on London, Brooklyn and Miami Beach. New episodes will be added every week on a Monday, and Apple says they can be enjoyed by runners of all levels.
In addition to a bunch of Fitness+ trainers, Time to Run episodes will feature motivational and energizing music, which matches each run’s intensity, location, and coaching. And if you really like a playlist, you can add it to Apple Music.
Look out for both of these features inside Apple Fitness+ on January 10, when Apple will also introduce the third season of Time to Walk, featuring guests such as Rebel Wilson, Bernice A. King, and Hasan Minhaj.
