You won‘t have to attach an AirTag tracker to the upcoming Targus Cypress Hero Backpack to locate it because it’ll have Apple’s Find My tracking technology built in.
The bag, which can hold a MacBook as large as 16 inches, can also be used to locate a misplaced iPhone.
Targus Cypress Hero Backpack acts smarter with Find My
Devices with Find My support can be automatically located by any mobile Apple device with the Find My app. So if the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack is left at a train station, the owner will be notified of its location as soon as someone with an iPhone wanders near it.
Of course, someone could simply put an AirTag in their backpack. But because Find My support is integrated into the backpack, a thief won‘t be able to easily toss out the tracker.
And Targus built in a bonus feature. If the user’s iPhone is lost, users can simply press a button in the backpack to ping their phone, sending an alert to inform them of its location. That’s not possible with an AirTag.
The backpack comes with a replaceable battery that is rechargeable via USB.
As an additional bonus, the Targus Cypress Hero Backpack is made with recycled materials. The equivalent of 26 plastic water bottles in recycled materials will be used in producing each one.
The backpack fits laptops up to 16 inches in a dedicated, padded compartment. Plus there’s plenty of pockets and storage compartments for other devices and personal items.
Targus first unveiled the Cypress Hero Backpack with Find My in November. But new details were announced on Tuesday at CES 2022, including a price: $149.99. It’s scheduled to be available in spring/summer 2022.
