Grab your blaster: ‘Lego Star Wars Battles‘ shoots toward Apple Arcade
“Lego Star Wars Battles” lets Chewbacca fight Boba Fett. Or have an Ewok take on a Tusken Raider.

The newest addition to Apple Arcade really puts the “war” in Star Wars. Look for a mix of one-on-one real-time combat and tower defense with classic characters in Lego Star Wars Battles.

The game debuted Friday, and is playable on a wide variety of Apple devices.

The new game developed by TT Games Brighton allows players to mix and match heroes, villains and vehicles from all over the Star Wars galaxy. Strategy is necessary to deploy troops and build Lego towers on the battlefield to destroy your opponent’s base while defending your own.

TT Games promises players can “lead your favorite Lego Star Wars characters into real-time, multiplayer PvP battles in arenas inspired by iconic locations from throughout the galaxy!”

There’s signature characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett, and these have have unique abilities, like Vader’s Force Slam and Luke Skywalker’s Force Push. Plus there’s porgs, stormtroopers and battle droids.  And there are options from every era of the series, along with vehicles from AT-ATs to X-wings.

“It’s easy to pick-up and play while also offering deep strategy in deck building and innovative territory capture for more experienced players,” said Jason Avent, Studio Head, TT Games Brighton.

Grab your lightsaber and head for Apple Arcade

Lego Star Wars Battles can be installed now from the Apple Arcade section of the App Store. The game is for one or two players, and there are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV — though the game was clearly designed for handsets. No matter the platform, you can use an external game controller.

For similar games, consider Lego Brawls and Lego Builder’s Journey, as both are also part of Apple’s gaming service. Playing these plus any of 200+ other titles costs $4.99 per month.

May the Apple Arcade be with you.
