Signs of the new iPhone 13 series showed up in a database belonging to the Eurasian Economic Commission this week. In all, seven new iPhones appeared under the model identifiers A2628, A2630, A2634, A2635, A2640, A2643 and A2645.
The EEC is frequently a good place to look for future Apple releases. All devices being released in Eastern Europe, Western Asia and Central Asia must be registered there if they use encryption technology. That includes the iPhone.
As usual, the filings reveal no additional detail about what exactly the new iPhones will pack as far as features go. From previous rumors, we expect the new iPhones will include a faster A15 chip, a smaller notch, silky smooth ProMotion displays (at least on Pro models), bigger batteries, a new matte black color, LiDAR on all models and a possible 1TB storage option.
Perhaps the most anticipated feature is the rumored return of Touch ID, this time embedded within the iPhone display. For those outside the United States, this may also be the first iPhone to introduce ultra-fast 5G mmWave tech previously only available stateside. Expect the same size and dimensions of the iPhone 12 series, albeit possibly with a slightly thicker body.
The new iPhones likely will arrive in September. That’s in contrast to last year, when the pandemic meant they were pushed back slightly to October and November.
