Tiny AirPods washing machine looks cute as can be

Cardlax EarBuds Washer is not an April Fool’s Day joke.
The Cardlax EarBuds Washer is an honest-to-god real product. You might even want one.

Cleaning AirPods is kind of a disgusting job, but Cardlax has a solution. It’s an itty-bitty washing machine to clean the crud off your earbuds in a couple of minutes.

Before you ask, April Fools’ Day was last week. This is a real thing.

Cardlax EarBuds Washer: You can’t make this stuff up

Open the top of the Cardlax to expose a rotating soft brush used to get the gunk out of the hard-to-reach places in your AirPods. Then drop the earbuds into the barrel, where a spinning cylindrical makeup sponge will polish them up.

“After Cardlax is done with cleaning your earphones, you will be amazed by how clean and neat they turn,” promises the product’s developer. “They will look like the way when you first bought them!”

The cleaner works with AirPods and AirPods Pro, and Cardlax Team promises they’re compatible with 99% of other earbuds, too.

People want it

Before anyone begins mocking Cardlax EarBuds Washer, notice that’s it’s being offered on Kickstarter, where it’s already 380% funded. The price is $33 but will soon go up to $39. The product is scheduled to ship in June 2021.

Perhaps the appeal shouldn’t be surprising. The Cult of Mac article on how to clean your gross, waxy AirPods draws a steady stream of readers every day of the week.
