The iPhone 13 will boast a maximum storage capacity that’s double that of the iPhone 12, claim Wedbush analysts Strecker Backe and Daniel Ives in a new note to clients, seen by Cult of Mac.

Unlike the iPhone 12, which tops out at 512GB, the iPhone 13 could offer up to 1TB. That’s also 62 times the storage of the original iPhone, which topped out at 16GB.

In addition, the analysts claim that this year’s iPhone refresh will feature a LiDAR scanner across all iPhone 13 models. Last year’s iPhone refresh only offered the LiDAR scanner on the iPhone 12 Pro models. The feature, which uses bounced laser to gather accurate depth information, is used for improved augmented reality implementation. It also has possible application when it comes to iPhone photography.

Wedbush are expecting the iPhone 13 to debut in the third week of September. However, they say that this could potentially push into October. Given Apple’s penchant for holding keynotes on a Tuesday, this could mean that the iPhone event will take place September 14. They claim Apple is eyeing big numbers for the next iPhone, perhaps even exceeding the iPhone 12 — which could be Apple’s biggest iPhone in history.

More iPhone 13 rumors

Based on current rumors, the iPhone 13 could boast a number of notable improvements. According to one report, the iPhone 13 Pro models will include smoother 120 Hz screens. It is also possible that it comes with a slight redesign, shrinking the size of the iPhone notch. Yet another report claims that it will usher in the return of Touch ID. The fingerprint sensor was entirely absent on the iPhone 12 series, but could make a comeback this year as an addition to Face ID. On top of this, expect a bigger battery, which could help make possible the first “Always on” screen in iPhone history.
