Samurai Jack is back in a new adventure. Adult Swim Games is bringing Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time to Apple Arcade in the near future.

In this platformer game, the star of the Cartoon Network series will face new enemies and rejoin allies to track down the evil Aku once more and defeat him once and for all.

Players take on the role of Jack as he travels through multiple levels drawn from and inspired by the show, battling enemies and bosses with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, as well as multiple fighting techniques. There are over a dozen different weapons for player to discover and master.

Featuring the ensemble cast of the hit Genndy Tartakovsky show, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time brings back characters like The Scotsman, Scaramouche, Sir Rothchild and more. The original voice actors return, including Phil LaMarr (Samurai Jack), Greg Baldwin (Aku), Tara Strong (Ashi) and more.

Adult Swim Games says the release date for this title on a variety of other platforms is August 21, though it did not specifically state it will hit Apple Arcade on that same date. Playing on iPhone or iPad will require a $4.99 a month subscription to Apple’s gaming service, but that also brings access to 100 other games. And there are no other costs, as in-app purchases, ads and loot boxes are banned.

Background on Samurai Jack

Cartoon Network ran the first four seasons of Samurai Jack in the early 2000s and the fifth and final season ran in 2017. It won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.

The show revolves around Jack, a brave, stoic samurai who is exiled far into the future by the show’s main villain, the evil shape-shifting demon Aku. Jack ends up trapped in a dystopian future ruled by the demon, where he must travel the world searching for a way to defeat his arch enemy and return home.
