A black Apple Pencil might finally be released.

To paraphrase an old joke, you can have the Apple Pencil in any color you want as long as that color is white. But an unconfirmed report indicates that’ll change soon. A version of this iPad active stylus in black is supposedly in the offing.

Hopes for a more colorful Apple Pencil…

This news comes from Mr-white, who has a modest history of leaking details of upcoming Apple products. Still, he revealed accurate pics of design changes in the iPad mini 5 quite some time before the 2019 launch of that tablet.

His post today says simply “New Apple Pencil is Black.”

Mr-white doesn’t specify whether he means there’ll be a new color option for the original Apple Pencil, or for the second-generation stylus that works with recent iPad Pro models. Or both. Or even if he means there’s a third-gen model on the way.

… go with dreams for colorful AirPods

Apple Pencil isn’t the only accessory from this company that comes only in white. People have been asking for additional colors for AirPods almost since these truly wireless earbuds launched. And asking in vain.

All Apple cables come only in white. And all its chargers. And every Apple-branded adapter.

But if this unconfirmed report turns out to be true, and the company really makes an Apple Pencil in black, perhaps other colorful accessories won‘t be far behind.
