After more than two years of incompatibility, Spotify has restored support for its web player on Apple’s Safari browser.

The Spotify support page on ‘How to use the web browser’ now lists Safari as a supported browser, as of Thursday.

Since 2017, Safari was labeled incompatible by Spotify. Users of the service were met with the message, “This browser doesn’t support Spotify Web Player. Switch browsers or download Spotify for your desktop.”

For two and a half years, Spotify’s web player was only accessible through Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Edge. Spotify never explained why its service was unable to be used with Safari.

Spotify’s support page notes that if users experience further issues, they made need to update their browser.

The music service is a strong competitor to Apple Music. In February of this year, Spotify reported it had hit 124 million paid premium subscribers. Apple Music had 60 million paid subscribers in June of last year, the last time Apple executives revealed figures.

Currently, Spotify is offering three months of its Premium subscription for free. The monthly price after discount is $9.99.
