Plenty of smartphone manufacturers have taken shots at Apple in their marketing materials. Then again, not every company is owned by the brother of late Colombian Medellín Cartel founder Pablo Escobar. In fact, only one is.

With his eye on Apple, Escobar’s brother has launched the Escobar Fold 1, a new $349 folding Android phone. And “Apple Boy Steve” features prominently in its marketing materials.

“Apple Boy Steve once looked into space,” notes the opening lines of one ad for the new phone. “He saw Pablo Escobar with a phone beyond anybody’s imagination”.

There are 100,000 units of the Fold 1 available. Escobar predicts that these will “sell out fast.” Promotional materials feature Roberto Escobar proclaiming the Escobar Fold 1, “the best smartphone in the world right now.”

A second, somewhat more NSFW ad shows a parade of young ladies strolling around in their underwear with the Fold 1.

Pablo Escobar: The Fold 1 has a lot to offer beyond Steve Jobs disses

For your money, you get a 7.8-inch folding display, Snapdragon 8150 chipset, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of space. It boasts two cameras, including 16 megapixels f/1.8 selfie camera and 20 megapixels f/1.8 rear camera, plus optical image stabilization.

Given that Samsung struggled mightily with the folding phone concept, I may wait until a few reviews start popping up online. Still, if you’re persuaded by someone calling out Steve Jobs (or the photo on the website of a young woman being forced to eat the Fold 1 at gunpoint!), you can place your order now. The iPhone had better watch its back!

Any plans to surrender your iPhone for an Escobar Fold 1? Will you save your cash and hold out for the Fold 2? Let us know in the comments below.
