David Leitch, the visionary director behind John Wick and Deadpool 2, teamed up with Apple for the latest “Shot on iPhone” ad that takes snowball fights to an all-new level.
The 90-second ad, titled Snowbrawl, follows a young girl who teams up with her friends in a sprawling snowball fight against her older brother and his cronies. Packed with tons of action stunts and gorgeous slow-mo shots you wouldn’t expect to be shot on a phone, the new ad will have you hyped to shoot your own winter videos.

Apple does a great job with its “Shot on iPhone” ads. From getting us up close and personal with famous musicians to taking us on breathtaking tours of Tokyo and beyond, Cupertino consistently taps top talent to showcase its latest camera innovations.
Making Snowbrawl
On Monday, Apple also released a behind-the-scenes video about the making of the Snowbrawl spot. And, in fact, i’s actually even more interesting than the ad itself. Even though Leitch and his crew filmed everything on the iPhone 11 Pro, they still used some pretty serious production equipment.
Still, shooting with a smaller camera opened up a bunch of possibilities that wouldn’t be possible with the type of giant cameras you’d find on a Hollywood production set. That shot of the garbage can lid twirling across the battlefield looks especially great. A couple of iPhone gimbals can be seen, but it looks like a lot of scenes are handheld shots filmed at 4K 60fps.
