Fortnite’s latest content update is out and it brings a brand new burst SMG to Battle Royale.

The suppressed SMG has been vaulted to make way for the newer weapon, which is just as effective up-close. This update also brings back a popular limited-time game mode.

Epic Games delivered some big changes and improvements with its version 9.10 patch last week — including Hot Spots and audio fixes. And there’s more to look forward to today.

This update isn’t quite as exciting, but it’s always great to see new weapons in Battle Royale.

Fortnite’s new burst SMG

“This burst-fire SMG packs a real punch in close quarters encounters,” Epic says. It’s available in common, uncommon, and rare variants and deals 23, 24, and 25 base damage.

Four rounds are quickly fired every time you pull the trigger, and you can carry 24 rounds in each magazine. The burst SMG fires light ammo, and there’s a 1.75x multiplier for headshots.

You’ll find the new gun in chests, vending machines, and on the floor. Sadly, you won’t find the suppressed SMG anymore; that’s been vaulted this week.

More to enjoy

This week’s limited-time game modes include Close Encounters Squads, Unvaulted Squads, and Solid Gold Duos.

In Team Rumble mode, you’ll now see four Hot Spots in each match to ensure that there is at least one on both sides of the map more often — but it’s not guaranteed. Epic says this is a “temporary fix” until it can force the same number of Hot Spots on each side.
