Epic Games has confirmed some of the changes and improvements it has planned for Fortnite following the launch of season nine.

Battle Royale players will soon see tweaks to the in-game health and shield bars that make them easier to read at a glance. It’s also going to become a lot easier to reverse accidental purchases.

Season nine has brought some of the biggest changes to Fortnite that we’ve seen since its launch. Major points of interest like Tilted Towers and Retail Row have seen a makeover. There are new ways to get around the map. Shotguns are all but useless.

Some of the changes haven’t worked out so well. One, a new animation for the health and shield bars, is going to be changed in a future Battle Royale update.

Fortnite health and shield bar tweaks

The new animation causes health and shield bars to turn red when a player takes damage. Not only have many players complained that it looks terrible, but others have pointed out that it makes it difficult to distinguish between health and shield at a glance.

If you’re not looking directly at the bars at the bottom of your screen, it’s hard to tell exactly how much health and shield you have. It was previously relatively easy to keep tabs on both in your peripheral vision when you’re focused on the action.

It’s not yet clear when the tweaks will be implemented. But given that this isn’t a huge change, we can probably expect to see it in the next Fortnite patch.

Accidental purchases will be easier to reverse

Epic is also making it easier for Fortnite players to reverse accidental purchases. A new “undo” button will let you give up new items and get back your V-Bucks, presumably within a certain amount of time after making a purchase.

Fortnite already has a refund system, but it’s limited. Players can only refund up to three items during the lifetime of their Epic Games account, and they only have so long to claim a refund after making a purchase.

One Epic engineer told Redditors that the ability to undo purchases is planned to ship in the version 9.10 Fortnite update. Again, we don’t know exactly when that will drop, but it’s likely we’ll see it this week — maybe Tuesday, May 14.

Other changes coming in season 9

Upcoming Fortnite patches are also expected to bring fixes for the damage inconsistency with the new combat shotgun. It’s unlikely all these changes will drop at once, and we shouldn’t expect too much from the next patch after so many changes in version 9.0.0.
