The Urban Armor Gear Metropolis is line of lightweight but protective folio cases for a range of Apple tablets. As of today, that includes the just-released iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5.

These cases offer MIL-SPEC drop protection and can securely hold an Apple Pencil. They also function as stands, naturally.

“People want to take their iPads on every adventure they go on,” said Kaila Vandermey, UAG Marketing Manager. “However, the iPad is as fragile as it is powerful. Which is why we’ve created a case that protects the tablet, enhances the look, and makes it even more usable in the field.”

UAG may be the first company to get very protective cases for these new iPads on the market, other companies have introduced some keyboard cases for one or both tablets, including Zagg, Brydge and Apple itself.

More about the Urban Armor Gear Metropolis

The version of the Metropolis for the 10.5-inch iPad Pad comes with a folio cover, but this can be removed, allowing the Apple Smart Keyboard to be used with this case.

Both this and UAG’s version for the 2019 iPad mini conform to military drop-test standards (MIL STD 810G-516.6). This means that can survive being repeatedly dropped. Color options include magma, cobalt and black.

The 10.5-inch version of the Metropolis is available now for $59.95. The iPad mini 5 version is $49.95, and is expected to debut soon.
