This year’s iPhone refresh will bring big upgrades for some of the handset’s most important features, according to a new rumor.

One tipster claims that we can look forward to an even better camera with 3x optical zoom, a bigger battery, faster wireless charging, and a more responsive screen.

We all want different things from the 2019 iPhone refresh. Some would like it to be thinner. Others would like USB-C connectivity. We would all prefer a smaller notch. But what can we really expect from Apple’s next-generation smartphones?

According to a post on Chinese micro-blogging network Sina Weibo, there are at least five big improvements we should expect.

5 big improvements for the 2019 iPhone

iCTech claims an upgraded camera system, with three lenses that enable 3x optical zoom, is part of Apple’s plans. A larger 4,000 mAh battery and faster 15W wireless charging are also on its list.

In comparison, the iPhone XS has a 2,658 mAh battery, while the iPhone XS Max has a 3,174 mAh battery. The iPhone XR, which offers the best battery life of any iPhone, has a 2,942 mAh cell.

An upgrade to 4,000 mAh would be pretty significant, then — and should mean a considerable increase in usage time in between charges. But if that’s the case, it almost certainly rules out a slimmer and lighter design.

The tipster also promises a more responsive display, with a 90Hz to 120Hz refresh rate like the iPad Pro. Finally, Apple is expected to reduce the size of the notch. Hoorah!

Don’t get your hopes up just yet

With the exception of the battery upgrade, which seems a little unlikely unless Apple makes the 2019 iPhone lineup substantially thicker — and that won’t happen — these all sound like plausible upgrades. Some have been rumored before.

We probably shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet, though. iCTech has a mixed track record with Apple rumors, so it’s best to take its latest claims with a pinch of salt for now.
