Epic Games is gifting Fortnite fans a free glider following confusion over its latest event.

Many players believed they had until January 3 or 4 to complete the recent 14 Days of Fortnite challenges, and when it came to an end on January 1, they missed out on the festive rewards. The best item on offer will now be distributed for free.

Not all of us get time to enjoy games over the holidays, so it’s no surprise that many Fortnite fans decided to save their 14 Days of Fortnite challenges until the New Year. But many lost out on them altogether after an Epic Games mix-up.

Some social media posts led fans to believe they would have until the end of this week to complete their challenges and redeem all 14 rewards. As it turns out, the event ended on Tuesday, January 1 and the challenges disappeared.

Now Epic is offering a free glider as an apology.

Equalizer glider free for all

“We apologize for communicating the wrong end date for 14 Days of Fortnite on social channels,” reads a tweet posted by Epic. “To make up for this, players that completed at least one 14 Days Event Challenge will be granted the Equalizer Glider.”

The Equalizer glider was the best reward available during the 14 Days of Fortnite event. We were also awarded a pickaxe, but the rest of the rewards were mostly festive emotes that were less than spectacular.

Epic says eligible players will receive their free glider “in the near future,” but it doesn’t provide a more specific release date. You should see it when logging into Battle Royale over the coming days or weeks.
