Last week there were reports that Spotify is coming to Apple Watch. It’s definitely happening, with video of an early beta appearing online.
At this point, however, basic functions are missing from the pre-release software for the streaming music service.
A video of Spotify for Apple Watch was posted on Twitter by Tom Warren of The Verge:

Spotify for Apple Watch is very much a beta
This beta version offers no support for storing songs on the wearable. The only way to play music is to stream it from an iPhone. And that’s true even for those with an Apple Watch with LTE.
As it is, this first-generation Spotify application serves mostly as a remote control for this service playing on the nearby iPhone.
There is a complication that can be added to a Watch face, but there no way to display the name of the song that is currently being played.
Spotify has not yet announced when its streaming music service will be coming to Apple Watch. It has made no promises about adding additional functionality.
Still, it seems likely the this company will eventually bring its Apple Watch software up to speed. Spotify and Apple Music are locked in battle for the streaming music business, and Spotify can’t afford to alienate potential customers.
