Fortnite season six kicked off on Thursday with massive changes, including new areas to explore across the Battle Royale map, new items, and more than 100 new rewards.

To earn those rewards faster, you’ll want to complete the weekly challenges and grab as many Battle Stars as you can. A total of 50 are available. Here’s how you can claim them.

Fortnite challenge guide for season 6, week 1

As in season five, players will have seven challenges to complete each week — three of which will be available to all, while the other four are accessible to those who purchase the Battle Pass.

Three of the challenges are also considered “hard” and will earn you 10 Battle Stars apiece; the other four offer five Battle Stars each. Here’s what you need to do to claim all 50.

Free challenges

Pickup a legendary item in 3 different matches — 5 stars

This challenge is as simple as it sounds. All you need to do is pick up a legendary (gold) weapon or item in three separate Battle Royale matches.

The only thing that makes this challenge remotely difficult is that legendary items are harder to come by. But still, even inexperienced players should be able to complete this task easily.

Regain 150 health from a Cozy Campfire — 5 stars

This is another easy challenge. Just pick up a Cozy Campfire, place it down when you’re low on health, and repeat this process until you have regained 150 health points.

Search 3 chests, 2 supply drops, 1 llama — 5 stars

In season five, Epic introduced challenges that involve several different steps. This is one of them.

The first step is to search three chests, which is the easiest bit. You’ll find these in just about every location on the map, and larger buildings commonly offer two or more. Listen out for the sound they make when you’re nearby them.

The second step is to search two supply drops, which is a little more difficult. Not only will you need to stay alive long enough for the supply drops to start falling, but you’ll need to be aware of where they’re going to land and get to them before your opponents.

Once you’re there, you’ll need to open the drop before you get eliminated by others rushing toward it. Build yourself some cover before you turn your back.

The final step is to search one loot llama. There are only a few of these in each match, and their locations are completely random. Just look out for them while you’re playing (you can’t really miss them) and grab one as soon as you see it.

Battle Pass challenges

Apply 500 shield — 5 stars

You should always have as much shield as possible during Battle Royale matches, so for most players, this challenge will complete itself. All you need to do is locate shield pots, slurp juices, or chug jugs and drink up.

It might take you several games to consume 500 shield points, but this is one of those challenges that you’ll finish without even having to think about it.

Land at different named locations — 5 stars

This is another challenge you’ll need to complete in stages, but it’s simple. All you need to do is land at five different named locations in a certain order. They are as follows:

  1. Junk Junction
  2. Tomato Temple
  3. Tilted Towers
  4. Fatal Fields
  5. Flush Factory

Dance under 7 different spotlights — 10 stars

Epic considers this challenge “hard,” but it’s easy if you know where to go. The map below, courtesy of FortniteIntel will help you locate the spotlights dotted around the map; all you have to do is visit seven of them and dance beneath them.

Eliminate 5 opponents in different named locations — 10 stars

This week’s final challenge is by far the most difficult. Not only do you need to secure five eliminations, but each one needs to happen a different named location.

If you can get a kill every time you drop for the challenge above — to land at different named locations in a certain order — this task will be done in no time and you won’t even have to put any extra effort in.

If that doesn’t work and you’re struggling, land in named locations you’re familiar with, where you know the best loot spots. Grab weapons and items as quickly as possible and go hunting.

But remember: Each of your five kills must be in a different location. Even if you get five on your first drop in Junk Junction, you’ll still need four kills in four other locations.
