New iPhones and iPads are coming this fall, but some Apple products reportedly won’t be refreshed so soon. New versions of this company’s smartspeaker and wireless headphones might not be out until 2019.

And the wait for AirPods 2 could be much longer than many are hoping.

AirPods 2 release date

The current AirPods came out in 2016, and many people are anticipating a new version soon. However, the wait will last all the way until the fourth quarter of next year, according to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis.

This is in-line with a Bloomberg report from June, which said unnamed sources agreed that AirPods 2 won’t be out until 2019. Those same sources indicated that the second-generation version will offer noise cancellation and water resistance.

In the mean time, the AirPower charging mat and a new wireless charging case for the current version is expected this fall, not next year

Cheaper HomePod on the way?

Sales of Apple’s smartspeaker have been lackluster at best. One of the sticking points for buyers has been its high price: $349. Barclays’ Curtis said a “cheaper HomePod” is coming in 2019 in today’s investor note. How much cheaper isn’t known.

The analyst had no hints on when next year. The original version debuted in February, so the follow-up could be out then, or could wait all the way until the holiday shopping season.
