Supertrampr

I'm sure drivers will be super happy about having their details shared like this.

Who hitchhikes any more? Nobody, that’s who. And that’s a shame, because hitchhiking is the O.G ride-sharing, with real-time pickups, and live interaction (aka conversation) built-in. Supertrampr wants to fix this, with an app that protects the hitcher, if not the driver.

Enter your name, your destination, and the car’s license plate into the app, and set a timer. If you don’t cancel or extend the alarms, then Supertrampr will send an alert to your emergency contact, with the ride details and your current GPS location. What could possibly go wrong?

I thing this app addresses the wrong end of the problem anyway. I hitched — and picked up hitchers — for many years, and the main problem is (not) getting a ride. If I picked someone up and they started tapping my details into this app, I’d kick them out at the next intersection.

It has a great name, though.

Patterning 2

Patterning 2 is even better than the original.

Patterning is one of the best drum-machine apps on iOS. Instead of using a grid, it arranges the beats as the segments of a circle, which is way more intuitive, and allows for some unique rhythmic tricks. Patterning 2 keeps the circle, and adds a ton more to what was already a fantastic set of features.

Patterning 2 has automation, a new drum browser (you can also use multiple drum kits in one song), tempo changes, MIDI-only tracks (to trigger other apps), and you can even slide a drum part so it plays off the beat, instead of in time. And that’s just the beginning. If you already love Patterning, you probably bought this on launch day. If not, you should check it out right now.
