The wait is nearing the end for the next iPhone and Mac operating systems. However, these aren’t the big upgrades announced last month. Instead, iOS 11.4.1 and macOS 10.13.6 will fix bugs in the current versions.

Apple just released the fifth beta version of each of these. The full release can’t be far behind.

No new features are included in either of these upcoming versions. This have been revered for iOS 12 and macOS Mojave.

iOS 11.4.1 is expected to fix the battery problems that were introduced with version 11.4. Some users are also complaining of camera issues.

Exactly what’s changing in macOS High Sierra with version 10.13.6 is unknown. It’s a general “bug fix” update.

How to get iOS, macOS betas

Anyone who wants to test out early version of iOS and macOS can do so after signing up for the Apple Beta Software Program.

It’s free to anyone willing to take the risk of using software on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac that potentially contains bugs.

In this case of the iOS 11.4.1 and macOS 10.13.6 betas though, this is a very low risk. They’ve been in testing for weeks, and a quite likely to be the same versions that will soon be introduced to the public.
