Apple fans that have been complaining for years that Siri is dumb might be a little creeped out by how much better the digital assistant is in iOS 12.

With the new Siri suggestions Apple introduced this week, your iPhone will now be able to prompt you about events you haven’t even told it about. One developer posted his experience of Siri learning about a lunch just through iMessage.

Prepare to be impressed:

Siri gets an upgrade

iOS 11 added the ability for Siri to create calendar events through iMessage, but what’s notable about the new changes is Siri can send a prompt to your lock screen now and suggest turning on Do Not Disturb mode.

Before iOS 12, Siri also couldn’t read Messages on your Mac and then send a notification to your iPhone. Some of that has been made possible thanks to Messages in iCloud. Apple’s engineers have been busy improving and reordering the underlying tech to make it more useful.

Siri Shorts is one of the biggest new features coming to iOS 12. The feature allows Siri to intelligently pair your daily routine with third-party apps and suggest things when you need them. All of it happens without you having to do anything, but you can also create your own shortcuts in the Shortcuts app.
