The grand unveiling of iOS 12 is just a few weeks away and there’s one feature on everybody’s wishlist: grouped notifications.

iOS 11’s notification screen is a mess when you get multiple notifications from the same app, but developer Matt Birchler has created a simple concept that shows how Apple could make the lock screen notifications so much better.

Here’s how they would look:

Instead of displaying individual cards for each notification, Birchler’s concept groups the notifications by app. By bundling notifications, Apple would be able to fit more information on the screen.

Users would then be able to dismiss all of one app’s notifications with a single swipe. Or you could Force Touch on the notification to expand it into individual notification cards.

Birchler’s concept also proposes Apple add automated replies to the lock screen along with the ability to manually type out a reply. You can also choose whether to have notifications displayed in chronological order, or have the most recent being on top.

We’ll find out whether any of Birchler’s ideas make it into iOS 12 during Apple’s WWDC 2018 keynote on June 4. The company is also expected to unveil macOS 10.14, tvOS 12 watchOS 5 and maybe even some new hardware.
