Fancy hurling yourself back in time to the British Isles, circa 878 AD? If so, and if you’re a fan of the battle-heavy strategy games, you may be pleased to hear that Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia is coming to macOS this week.

Released on PC earlier this month, the game allows you to pick between the English, Welsh, Gaelic, or Vikings and battle for dominance. While you’re doing this, you’ll make and break alliances, build armies, and play your way through a number of different campaigns. Check out the trailer below.

The game received generally positive reviews upon release, with reviewers praising the deep gameplay and well-crafted missions and campaigns. The game is pretty much split evenly between giant real-time battles and more strategic turn-based elements.

It promises to run on all post-2016 13-inch MacBook Pros, post-2012 15-inch Retina MacBook Pros, all 21.5 and 27-inch iMacs released post late-2013. In terms of specific specs, you’ll need a 1.8GHz Intel Core i3 processor running macOS 10.13.4, 8GB of RAM and a 1GB Nvidia 650M, 2GB AMD Radeon M290, Intel Iris Pro 5200 or better.

As a fan of the genre, I’m very much looking forward to diving into this upon release. The game arrives on Mac on May 24.

The game can be pre-ordered for $35.99 right now. Visit the game’s minisite for more details.
