A couple of new renders and a video from a reliable source show what might be the next-generation iPhone SE. The device shown looks a lot like the earlier version, but updated with some of Apple’s newest tech.

Most notably, the Home button is gone, being replaced by a screen cutout with Face ID sensors.

The renders come from Steve Hemmerstoffer, who also goes by the @OnLeaks handle on Twitter. He’s the source of some iPhone 8 renders that came out months before the actual device but turned put to be spot on.

That said, he’s cautious about these new images. Hemmerstoffer said on Twitter “I can’t confirm if this one is partially or completely accurate or even exists but despite of that decided to share it for discussion purposes only.”

These renders were released in conjunction with TigerMobiles.com, who is hosting a full array of images and a video.

2018 iPhone SE Rumors all over the place

Even though this low-cost model is expected to launch at Apple World Wide Developers Conference in June, if not before, little consensus has emerged about its specifications.

As discussed, the @OnLeaks images show the 2018 iPhone SE using Face ID and an edge-to-edge screen. That said, rival renders purporting to show this handset feature a Home button and the usual large top and bottom bezels instead.

Hemmerstoffer’s render shows the upcoming iOS model lacking a headphone jack. Other rumors have said the same, but some images recently originating in China supposedly show the device sporting an audio port.

Wireless charging is another area where there’s no agreement. Today’s render appears to have a metal back, precluding this feature. Other rumors have said the next SE model will have wireless charging.

At least there’s been little dissent about the reports that Apple next budget device will have the Apple A10 processor that debuted in the iPhone 7. And it’s expected to cost the same as the current SE versions. But these are just about the only aspects where there’s some kind of consensus.

It seems everyone might have to wait until the 2018 iPhone SE is officially announced to find out what it has to offer.
