If you’re waiting for a new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone, you may be in luck a lot sooner than you think! According to a new report, Apple will be announcing its latest limited edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone as early as today at 8.30am Eastern.
Unfortunately, it supposedly won’t be Apple’s top-of-the-line iPhone X, but instead the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
In some ways, the appearance of a new iPhone today would be a surprise. Apple failed to announced a mid-year handset refresh at the recent education-focused media event, in which it unveiled the new cheaper iPad.
Nonetheless, this time last year, Apple introduced the PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 7 as a way of boosting mid-year sales. A new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone could help Apple in a year in which it has reportedly experienced slightly disappointing sales.
The news of a new iPhone comes from a leaked Virgin Mobile memo. It describes pre-orders, so it’s not apparent exactly when the handsets will be available if they are announced. Another recent report suggested that Apple could release new handsets in a blush gold color. Who knows, Apple could even seize the moment today to also officially release its AirPower charging mat!
