If it took you a while to sign up for early access to Fortnite on iOS, you’re probably still waiting to get an invite — but you may be able to play already.

Lots of fans have reported that they’ve been able to gain access to the game without receiving an email from Epic. If you haven’t already, you might want to try it yourself.

Epic started issuing the first batch of invites last Thursday, and more followed a day later. It seems that a lot of iPhone and iPad users already have access to the game. You may be one of them and you just don’t know it yet.

Try playing Fortnite today

Anyone can download Fortnite from the App Store now — that’s why it took just a day to reach the top of the free games chart. You shouldn’t be able to sign into the game until you get an invite, but it seems some fans are getting lucky.

Many have reported that they could sign in successfully, even though they didn’t get an invite from Epic. It’s thought that there might be a rather lengthy delay between players being granted access and actually receiving confirmation that they can play.

Go download the game now if you haven’t already, and try signing in. You could be one of the lucky ones. If you can’t get in right away, keep trying every so often. You’ll need to download the game anyway, so even if you do have to wait a little longer, at least you’ll be prepared.

Ask a friend to invite you

If you don’t want to wait, ask a friend to invite you. Those who have already received an invite now have access to three friend codes, which they can share from inside the game.

I’ve been playing Fortnite on iOS since I got my invite on Thursday, and I think it’s terrific on mobile. The touch controls take some getting used to, and there a couple of things — like party chat — that are missing for now. But overall, it’s an incredible feat of mobile game development.
