After a lengthy period in soft launch, The Sims Mobile is finally available for download worldwide — and it looks impressively close to its desktop older sibling.

As one of the top-selling game franchises of all time, everyone is surely familiar with The Sims. If you’re not, it’s a game in which you create your own virtual humans, design a home for them to live in, pick a career, and then, well, get on with living everyday life. Only more fun than that makes it sounds.

While I haven’t been able to properly dive into the game yet, it looks impressive in terms of the amount of customization on offer. You can tweak your Sim’s personality traits, aspirations and appearance, and the ability to design your Sim’s house in detail has carried over from the PC and Mac versions of the game.

The Sims Mobile also contains multiple story elements in which you guide your Sims through a variety of scenarios.

In all, it looks an impressive port of the game to iOS — although it’s worth noting that it’s a freemium title. That means that you’ve got in-app purchases to wrangle in order to move through the game. Depending on your tolerance for this game mechanic, that could be a make-or-break for your enjoyment of The Sims Mobile.

Still, if you’re willing to accept dropping a few IRL Simoleons on your Sim-playing experience, this looks well worth checking out.
