Apple has added an extra 79 regions to its list of locations offering Apple Music student membership — with three more being added on February 26. New markets offered include Israel, Malaysia, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, and Taiwan.

Pricing for the student membership for Apple Music varies depending on geography, but it offers a reduced way of subscribing to Apple’s streaming music service. In the U.S., the student membership costs just $4.99 per month, and is available for a period of 48 months — or the equivalent of a four-year degree course.

In order to claim student membership, you must be verified through the UNiDAYS service.

Apple Music keeps on growing

Currently Apple Music has reportedly amassed a paying user base of around 36 million users. A recent report suggested that Apple Music is currently growing at a rate of around 5 percent per month. At this trajectory, it will overtake Spotify as the biggest paid music streaming service in the United States this summer.

Apple Music growth will no doubt be aided by the launch of the HomePod smart speaker, which is not compatible with third party services other than Apple Music — other than via AirPlay.

Also this month, Apple hired music journalist Alex Gale as the new head of editorial for Apple Music. Gale joins from previous work with Billboard, XXL and Vibe, and will be responsible for all written content on Apple’s music platforms.
