Why bother with basic backpacks when you can buy one oozing with tech designed to make life a whole lot easier. Meet Novel, a new generation of bags that come packing everything you need on the road in the modern age.

Just like any decent backpack, Novel carries all your essential items. There’s space for your MacBook, your iPad, and plenty of other gadgets that you can’t travel without. They’re protected by shock-absorbing technology and water-resistance, with a secure roll-top design.

But it’s not what you can put in it that makes Novel special; it’s what’s already in it.

Novel packs everything you need on the road

Novel has a built-in battery for charging all your gadgets on the go, with quick charge technology and USB ports positioned both inside and on the straps for easy access. It even has a Qi charging pocket, which is perfect for topping up iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

White LED lights on the straps illuminate your way when cycling, while reflectors and red LED lights on the back ensure you’re visible at all times. Both can be set to different modes, such as steady light or strobe flash.

Internal lights make it easy to find the items you need in dark environments. You can also add a key wallet, a chest pocket for your phone, a compression bag, and GPS tracking.

Novel comes in three sizes, each with different specifications. To get everything mentioned, you’ll need to splash out on the largest bag, Novel 3.0. The smaller and more affordable Novel 1.0 and Novel 2.0 options include almost all of it, except for a Qi charging pocket.

But none of these options will be available without your help. Support the Novel project — and secure your bag today — by making a pledge through Kickstarter.

A pledge of €249 will get you the Novel 1.0 when it starts shipping in July 2018, while $269 will get you the Novel 2.0 You’ll need to cough up €389 for the Novel 3.0, which also offers pockets that block RFID, a front zip pocket, and more.
