You can now use your iPhone X in cold weather, thanks to iOS 11.1.2. Apple’s latest update fixes an issue that causes Super Retina HD displays to become unresponsive when it gets chilly, as well as problems with Live Photos and video capturing.
iPhone X is the hottest smartphone on the market right now, and it doesn’t like getting cold. Early adopters have reported that their display doesn’t register touch input when they use it in chilly temperatures. Apple acknowledged the problem last week.
A fix is already available in iOS 11.1.2
“We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment,” the company said. It also promised a fix, and now that’s available in iOS 11.1.2.
The update is available for iPhone and iPad — everything compatible with iOS 11. But the only changes Apple mentions in its release notes are a fix for the issue above, and another that “addresses an issue that could cause distortion in Live Photos and videos captured with iPhone X.”
You can download it right away, so long as you have at least 51.4MB of free storage on your device.
