Awesome Apps
'Appy weekend everyone!

A great premium top-down stealth shooter that’s sure to appeal to any Hitman or Metal Gear Solid fans out there is just one of the apps we’ve picked for this week’s “Awesome Apps” roundup.

We’ve also got new reminders integration for a superb email client for Mac, a podcast recording app for iOS, and a massive update to one of my absolute favorite games of 2017. Check out our picks below.

Death Road to Canada

One of my favorite iOS games in ages, Death Road to Canada is a crazy mash-up of randomly-generated zombie survival RPG, pixel art actioner, and text-based interactive fiction game. If that sounds a bit weird, it most certainly is. If that sounds like a lot of fun, that is most assuredly true as well.

This week, the game received a massive update — adding new music, weapons, characters, systems, and way more. Specific tweaks include new atmospheric lighting (making it harder to see zombies in the dark), doorway barricading systems, a massive 40 new weapons, 11 recruitable new characters, new locations, and a ton of other modifications that will enhance your gameplay experience. (A total list of improvements can be read in the change log here.)

Highly recommended!

Death Point

From Death Road to Canada to Death Point, it sure seems that death-related games are in this week. Andiks’ Death Point is a premium top-down shooter and stealth game that’s sure to appeal to any fans of the Metal Gear Solid or Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchises.

The high end graphics look great, and there’s a good range of missions and weapons to explore. Definitely worth a look, although the lack of external MFi controller support is something that could be addressed in a later update.

ZCast

ZCast now supports high-definition audio recording.

ZCast, the app which makes podcasting from an iOS device easy, got a big new update this week, making it better than ever. Version 3.0 grants users the ability to record in studio-quality audio, and share the results.

The latest version means the app now supports high-definition audio at up to 48KHz in stere, as well as letting you embed your ZCast recordings into social media posts.

Spark

Spark productivity integrations
Spark now plays nicely with third-party productivity apps.

One of the best third-party email clients for Mac just got a bit better, courtesy of new integration with popular reminders apps including Todoist, Wunderlist, Things, and even Apple’s own Reminders app.

The integrations mean that, when you receive an email that you need to follow up, an attachment for a project you may be working on, or a request you have to carry out later, you can export it to the productivity app of your choice.

At present, the integrations are only available on Mac, but Readdle promises they’re coming to Spark for iOS, too. (Spark’s email app for iOS just added Touch ID protection, and PDF integration, allowing you to edit and send PDF documents without leaving the app.)
