Listen up, Pokémon fans! Moltres, the latest Legendary Pokémon, has just been added to Pokémon GO, giving players the chance to pick up the fiery flying Pokémon that represents one of the three Legendary birds of Kanto.
Moltres is available from now through August 7, and can be captured during Raid Battles.
Capturing it’s not easy, though, as Moltres spawns are randomized, and once you find it you’ll need to defeat it in a Legendary Raid Battle before claiming it for your very own.
Some major updates
While Pokémon GO has undeniably lost a bit of steam since its blockbuster debut, developers Niantic have done a good job of refreshing it with new content this year. Earlier in 2017, the game got a long overdue massive update, adding 80 new creatures, including Pokémon from the Gold and Silver games.
This summer’s big update, meanwhile, includes revamped gyms and the aforementioned multiplayer raids. (And then there are the smaller, fun updates like the “festive hat” designed to celebrate #PokemonDay.
It’s the Legendary Pokémon that seem to have really captured folk’s imaginations, however. July 23 — when Niantic started releasing Legendary Pokemon — was reportedly the game’s highest grossing day ever, with players spending a massive $5.8 million dollars worldwide. Hopefully the momentum continues!
If you haven’t downloaded Pokémon GO yet, you can do so here. It’s available for any iPhone or iPad running iOS 8.0 or above.
