The iPhone helps with an endless number of tasks, but with a finite amount of battery life. So extra power is easy to find, whether it’s in an external battery or a battery integrated iPhone case.
But that battery is one more thing you have to charge. Strap on an Apple Watch and soon you are looking for a bigger bag that makes room for the charging needs of your various devices.
Portland-based Elevation Lab has a travel battery that takes virtually no room and can charge both your Apple Watch and iPhone a few times before it needs to recharge.
The Battery Pro is larger in name than in profile. It fits in a purse or back pocket – it’s about the size of an iPhone – and houses an 8000mAh battery, which, the company says, can service an Apple Watch for a couple of weeks along with three charges for an iPhone.
With all the on-the-go charging solutions for smartphones, there are few portable batteries that offer juice for both a phone and watch.
Belkin offers the Valet Charger, similar in design and function to the Battery Pro, but with a smaller battery.
Elevation Lab has a reputation as a design firm that solves little inconveniences that crop up for Apple users as they integrate the devices with their lives. Its first product, an iPhone dock in 2011, was the first Kickstarter project to break the $1 million mark and more recently, the company created an adjustable stand for creatives who want a drafting table experience while using the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
The Battery Pro became available today on the company website for pre-order for $99. The battery provides full-speed iPhone charging and an integrated MFI Apple-certified magnetic disk for charging the Apple Watch. It has a strap that locks the watch down, which allows the user to tuck it into a bag without worry of the watch getting separated from the power source.
It can also be stood on end for Nightstand mode with the watch.
Elevation Lab will begin shipping the Battery Pro in three weeks.
