The race to create the hottest karaoke show in the U.S. is heating up now that Spotify has revealed it is making a TV show that will feature artists performing while rolling through Los Angeles traffic.

Spotify is calling the show Traffic Jams. And while it has a lot in common with Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke, Spotify hopes some key difference will set its show apart.

While Carpool Karaoke focuses on singing old songs and having a good time, Traffic Jams puts hip-hop producers together with paired-up rap stars and challenges them to create entirely new songs. The duos then must perform the song live in front of an L.A. audience at the end of their ride.

The first episode of Traffic Jams will feature T-Pain paired with Southside. There will be eight episodes total, with a new installment coming out every week.

All Def Digital got tapped to create the episodes. Russell Simmons, co-founder of All Def Digital, said in a statement that Spotify is the best home for the new show.

Traffic Jams is an exciting new premium series that shows off true talent — recording artists and producers — and their ingenuity, creativity and personalities,” said Simmons. “It has improvisation, it has performances, and I’m pretty sure it will spawn a few new hits too — it’s amazing and Spotify is the perfect platform for it.”
