Microsoft is taking another swipe at Apple with its newest app that makes it super easy to transfer all your data from a Mac onto a PC.

The new macOS app is called “Mac to Surface Assistant” and is similar to to the “Move to iOS” app that Apple created years ago that makes it easy for Android users to move their files and apps to iPhone.

Microsoft’s app is very basic and easy-to-use. Once the Mac to Surface Assistant has been downloaded and installed, you can use it to transfer all of your music, movies, photos, files, contacts and other info. The app requires users to have an external hard drive.

The app asks you to select the folders that you want to keep. All of the data in the folders are then compressed into a Zip folder that you can access on your Surface Book. Microsoft advertises it as tool for its Surface tablets, but it can also be used with any other PC running Windows.

Microsoft has been more vocal on its attacks on the Mac and iPad. In its most recent video, Microsoft mocked Apple’s new iPad advertisements saying, “just because you call something a computer doesn’t mean it fits the description.”

Windows 10 is more horrible than ever, the UI is a jumbled mess. I’d never go back.

      I agree wholeheartedly.

You can’t even get to the MS link, without a commercial break on the way. So cheesy. I am temporarily using a PC, as my Mac recently got sick. I moved my files with an SD card. The PC photos app is such shite, that I would never move photos, and adding more than one mail account just doesn’t work the way they say it does.

I like the concept and look of the Surface but the barrier, for me, is always going to be Windows.
